Today I took a few photos, with a somewhat cooperative little boy.
That is always the hard part just getting them to sit still ;)
Nothing done yet to the photos yet, just straight from the camera
Used natural light from a south facing window.
The shadows on his face are harsh, but I kinda like that.
Not sure where to sit my subject in opposition to the lighting though, so suggestions are welcome!

Sometimes harsh shadows do work. I really like 2 and 3. Keep sharing!

Love the lighting, but the first one is my favorite. I love the drama of the shadow.

I really like the dark shadows in these. As far as positioning goes, I just get my kids to swivel around until I can see catchlights in their eyes. If you wanted less shadows, get someone to hold a reflector (like a white sheet) on the other side to the window to throw some light back on the dark side. Does that make sense???
